El histórico y patrimonial inmueble está siendo sometido a obras que impidan su eventual colapso. Con recursos provenientes del Fondo del Patrimonio Cultural del Ministerio de las Culturas, las Artes y el Patrimonio y del Municipio de Putaendo, se han estado ejecutando obras que permitan estabilizar la estructura, proteger y recuperar la totalidad del inmueble y los murales que son parte fundamental del antiguo Casino Social.
Recientemente, profesionales del Servicio Nacional de Patrimonio visitaron el lugar para conocer el avance de las obras, que tienen un costo de inversión de 72 millones de pesos.
De acuerdo a lo manifestado por el alcalde Mauricio Quiroz , “la estabilización del Casino Social y su posterior restauración, constituye una de las intervenciones más significativas que estamos realizando en el casco histórico de Putaendo. Por eso hemos asumido el compromiso de financiar, con recursos del 2024, el diseño de restauración para postularlo al Fondo Nacional Desarrollo Regional“.
Para Salim Rabi, destacado arquitecto patrimonialista “era urgente instalar una infraestructura que impidiera que el inmueble siguiera torciéndose, e impedir su colapso. Por eso concluida la etapa de estabilización, ya es posible avanzar en la elaboración del diseño de puesta en valor y restauración definitiva“.
Un aspecto clave en el “salvataje” del inmueble fue la decisión de la directiva y socios del club Deportivo Putaendo, de jugársela por este tipo de intervención y concordar con el Municipio un convenio de largo alcance, para su futura restauración y gestión.
